Diane Minuti: Translating the Spirit of Land and Water
Diane Minuti is a contemporary painter born in Lowell, Massachusetts and living in New Hampshire. She began her art education while in high school studying painting on weekends at the Massachusetts College of Art. It was at that time, her love of painting outdoors began while she experienced “plein air painting” in the streets of Boston. She furthered her education in the following years by studying painting and drawing at the Whistler House in Lowell and the New Hampshire Institute of Art and at workshops with many master painters including oil painters, Kim English, Stan Moeller, and James Aponovich. Watercolor techniques were developed by attending workshops with Mary Whyte, Alvaro Castagnet, and Carlton Plummer as well as numerous workshops with Don Andrews.
Following in the footsteps of master painters, such as John Singer Sargent and Winslow Homer, Diane works outdoors as well as in the studio. She is drawn to scenes that have a strong pattern of light and shadows. These small plein air paintings are often used as studies for larger works.
Diane's work can be found in private collections throughout the United States as well as Europe. Her work has been shown in numerous juried exhibitions throughout New England as well as on the west coast. She is a juried member of New Hampshire Artist Association (NHAA) and a member of the New England Watercolor Society (NEWS).
Diane resides in rural Candia, New Hampshire with her family where she maintains her studio. She continues to find new sources of inspiration in the countryside around her as well as from her travels, and captures the essence of these places in her expressive style.
